Unlit lanterns, empty pews awash in an unborrowed light. A meditation on quietude, refuge, and a return to an inner centre.
Reflection
By definition, the similarity between the words sanctuary and home might not be very apparent. And yet, when considering the very essence of what these words mean, it is quite impossible to separate the two.
While we require our intellectual faculties to navigate our way through this increasingly unpredictable world, it has also driven us toward the attainment of temporal society-driven ideals, as fickle as they are temporary. This self-reliance has given rise to an incessant imbalance, causing us to lose touch with an integral part of what makes us human. That still small voice. That all-encompassing realm within us, where the emotional and intellectual coexist in perfect harmony.
Our one true centre. A shelter where there is no cause to pause. A refuge where there is rest. Peace. Joy.
A place to call home.
Our very own sanctuary.
